Compassionate attention (after Yvonne Rainer) 2022

Compassionate attention (After Yvonne Rainer) was filmed under the warmth of infra-red heaters, the video shows the artist’s hands self-massaging, stretching, playing, and responding to a series of mobility exercises. The work was made during a residency at Hospitalfields in 2021, and is part of a series that reflect on maintenance and care of the body whilst working within a highly productive setting.

The work was first exhibited during my solo exhibition ‘Articulations’, at the National Festival of Making in 2022 and later part of The Index of Convalescence, an online exhibition curated by Laura mansfield and Swen Steinhäuser.
